Adoption Guidelines
Adopting an animal in need of a second chance is a very exciting and special event. Animal Rescue Recon is committed to this effort and does everything possible to make sure the pairing works for everyone - you and the animal. As a result, there are some guidelines that must be followed to ensure the health and safety of the animals and their new people.
Some things to consider include the ages of children in the household, secure fencing and how will the new family member will be received by existing pets in the home.
You must have a fenced yard (6ft), free of fox tails. Please bring photos of your yard - either digital or print copies, or email us the photos that show secured fencing. Home visits will be performed, when possible.
We do adopt small dogs to occupants of some condos or apartments. Please bring photos of your outside patio or balcony area. If you rent, we need to review a copy of your lease which reflects you are allowed by the landlord to have pets on the property.
We typically do not adopt to families with children under the age of 5 years old unless we know the history of the dog and/or how they react around young children.
ALL CHILDREN MUST BE PRESENT AT TIME OF ADOPTION.
If you already own a dog(s), please bring them as well for a meet and greet or plan on scheduling a personal appointment prior to finalizing the adoption.
All animals will be spayed/neutered, current on vaccinations and micro-chipped either at the time of adoption or immediately afterwards. Depending on the age of the animal and the availability of vet appointments, some have not been altered prior to adoption, however we will continue working with you and the animal until all services have been completed.
Having your pet spayed/neutered is not an option, it is a requirement and part of the adoption agreement.
Adoption fees are $400 for pups under 6 months and $350 for all other dogs. This fee helps offset the expense we incur for exams, shots, microchip and spay/neuter.
Animal Rescue Recon will discuss these guidelines and offer suggestions when you call for information regarding an adoptable pet. Please contact us at 925-392-7654 for more information.
